The Motorcross Challenge Project (MCXP) is a charity based in Dover that works with children to help incentivise them to learn in a more pratical situation. This is also the place where we got to try motocross taster session that I wrote up on last week. This is a gerat mix of a fun thing to try whilst also helping to fund a worthwhile charity! MXCP is a charity based not for profit registered organisation in Dover offering an alternative way to educate and motivate young people by teaching themmechanics and off-road riding.

The project’s core aim is to raise safe awareness of off road motorcycling and for young people to come along and try motocross. It was established 11 years ago anduses the incentive of motocross to encourage young people to develop theirskills

A press release just in from Honda has just informed us that Honda has chosern SERV as it nominated Charity. The release details are below:

Honda (UK) is delighted to announce the acclaimed ‘blood runners’ charity, SERV (Service by Emergency Rider Volunteers), has been nominated by staff as the company’s supported charity for the year.

SERV, a member of NABB (Nationwide Association of Blood Bikers), is a charity that transports blood, plasma, platelets, samples, vaccines and other urgently required medical items to hospitals completely free of charge. It is run by dedicated volunteers who receive no financial compensation for their time or costs, allowing the NHS to divert funds to where they are needed most.

Having formed in 1981 so celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, SERV is now seeking to expand. This will enable them to provide a more comprehensive service within their current fourteen operating areas across the South East – which respond to over 5000 emergency calls annually across the region – as well as grow the national coverage of this vital service through setting up new

Honda have recently made a video showing one of the SERV members, it was on TV last night and will be appearing more as part of Honda showing their part in the community. It is a nice video to watch to see what these guys are up to and so there is a copy here.

Emergency Biker group made it onto the main screen last week by appearing on the biker program Emergency Bikers on channel 5. The Emergency Biker program for those that have not seen it follow some motorcycle policemen and biker paramedics and shows the great work that they complete and the challenges they face. For all bikers we believe this is a great program as it is showing the good of bikers and the benefits that we can offer and think it goes a long way to help to show bikers are nice people too! Today has seen the start of a new SERV (aka Bloodrunners) groups starting in Suffolk & cambridgeshire. The SERV Suffolk group started today with a photo op at the Ipswich hospital that they will be supporting, the new group starts with 22 riders covering the roster although they are still looking for more. The SERV group were supported in the launch with some riders coming up from Kent and Sussex who travelled up on some of their marked bikes for the event

On the 3rd April there saw the completion of the  Ride Of Honour 2011 in North Yorkshire where 750 biker (as many as were allowed) turned out to ride through the roads as sign respect for the soldiers that have laid down their life for our country and for the freedoms of other. Each biker had paid a donation of at least £10 which was all donated into the Black Rat Fund which is local find to help soldiers from the local Catteric Garrison and their families.

SERV (Service by Emergency Rider Volunteer) which is also known as the Bloodrunners is a Charity that operates to aid and assist the NHS and was set up to supply a quick and reliable means of Transporting Emergency Blood and Blood Products to the hospitals and medical facilities at night.

The members of SERV volunteer their time, bikes and petrol to offer the NHS a free emergency service to transfer blood (primarily) between the hours of 7pm and 6am. This saves the NHS from using an ambulance that can be better used elsewhere, the police that can again be better served elsewhere or an expensive taxi or courier. Members of SERV

A few months back a friend of ours at All Motorcycle Stuff was involved in a pretty nasty motorbike accident, it was that age old story of a car crossing the bikers path. The biker in question (Chris) had some pretty serious injuries as a result of this collision and once he was on the mend was asked by the Air Ambulance for some feedback information.
